Tips for safe handling of cryogens

Body

Please read and internalize the following tips for the safe handling of cryogens, provided by our safety department:
  • Always handle cryogens in well ventilated areas!
  • Cover any body part that could be exposed.
  • Wear safety goggles, loose-fitting insulated gloves, close-toed shoes, long pants without cuffs and long sleeves (long apron or lab coat may also be used).
  • Never transport cryogens in an elevator with personnel; a release of cryogenic material will displace oxygen and make the environment extremely hazardous.
Procedures for safe use of Nitrogen Fill Stations are posted at each station. You can also review this procedure on the safety portal.
